I have a German friend, Bjorn Steinz. He is a pro photographer based in Prague. Two years ago he visited Yakutsk in November. He spent a few days just walking around on streets and taking pictures of people. Those are some beautiful captures of a city in the cold. It amazes me how much is still left over from the old Soviet Union in Yakutsk, like the Lenin statue and the large wall murals.
Right, you are. Before the Soviet period Yakutsk was mostly full of wooden houses. Not so many left from the pre-Revolution time. However, not the downtown has some modern buildings made of glasses and concrete.
The people look friendly, and I love their fur hats. The photography is very beautiful.
