WOW, -42C, great picture and slideshow !
I was wondering about the name of “Yellowknife”.
I found the answer on the Internet: The name comes from the yellowish Yellowknife shimmering copper-blades of the Yellowknife Dene Indians, who in the early 18th Century in the area came. It lies in the traditional hunting grounds of the Dogrib tribe that began in the 1820s the land from the Chipewyan tribe regain possession.
