They made it! For the fifth time!

Yesterday, April 25, 2012, the Russian teen team led by Arctic adventurers Dmitry and Matvey Shparo (Adventure Club) reached the North Pole by skiing from the Barneo drifting ice base.

I am happy about this event, as one of the North Pole skiing expedition participant is from Yakutia, precisely from the Bulunsky region located in the Polar Circle in North Yakutia, Siberia, Russia.

Polar explorers are very extraordinary, very interesting and very talented people. Whatever they do, they do it with big inspiration and… creativity!

Here is the example. Right now Jim McNeil, known also as Ice Warrior, is completing the polar training under his leadership in Svalbard, an archipelago in the Arctic, constituting the northernmost part of Norway.

It’s so fascinating to read his training updates on his blog. It’s more like reading chapters of your lovely daily book. Some abstracts appear to be so poetic and so romantic!

The Seimchan road in Magadan Oblast, Russia. By Ilya Kovyakin.

That’s really great to have friends around the world! :) Just a few minutes ago two fellows – Ilya Kovyakin from the Russian city of Magadan and Pelle Gangeskar from the Norwegian village of Røldal – simultaneously shared mobile photographs taken on snow-covered roads today, October 23rd, 2010.

Let’s play the game. Just guess where the above pictures were taken. Any ideas? Okey, see answers further.

Dmitry Medvedev and Vladimir Putin look really happy to be in snowy weather in Russia’s Sochi skiing resort of Krasnaya Polyana. Awesome! Numbers of winter admirers have grown.

By the way:

1) Companies “Bogner” and “Smith” must be gratefull to Russian leaders for such effective product placement :)
2) Russia’s President and Premier made an outstanding contribution to rebranding Sochi, that was all the time considered as the Black Sea summer resort.
3) Snowing in the picture looks very impressive.
4) Just wonder how other nation leaders look in winter.

A cool video. Almost 550 cm. This November. The measurement is made at the station of Pig Alley, at a height of 1650 meters above sea level.
